Several days ago I read that “Wayang Wong” will be published on a coffee-table book in several countries.
What is ‘coffee-table book’?
thefreedictionary.com tell us some intersting definitions:
- (Journalism & Publishing) a book designed to be looked at rather than read
- An oversize book of elaborate design that may be used for display, as on a coffee table
- an oversize, expensive, and usu. illustrated book suitable for displaying, as on a coffee table.
I will try to define the terms by combining them with my own idea. Coffee-table book is a book larger than average, usually illustrated with large photos, designed to be looked at (rather than read) when you are enjoying your coffee.
